Ethiopia assumes the Chairmanship of the African Union for 2013

On Sunday, Hailemariam Desalegn, current Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, was elected Chairman of the African Union for the year 2013, replacing Thomas Boni Yayi, President of Benin.
This election took place during the Twentieth Ordinary Session of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), held from January 26 to 28 in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), headquarters of that institution.

First meeting of the year between the President of the Republic and the opposing parties

On Wednesday, January 17, the first meeting of the year was held between the President of the Republic, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and the leaders of all the political groups legalized in the country.
Taking into account that in the course of the present year, 2013, the holding of senatorial, legislative and municipal elections is planned, the Head of Equatoguinean State, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo held on Wednesday, January 16, his first working sessions with the leaders, representatives of the different political groups of the opposition officially recognized in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

Speech by the President at the opening ceremony of the ACP Summit


The President of Equatorial Guinea welcomed all the guests and participants to the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the ACP. In his opening address, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo proposed the creation of an institution to gather together the southern countries, and offered Malabo to be constituted as its headquarters.
